If there is one thing that I very much dislike in my workflows, it’s processes that automatically start without my consent or prior agreement. The latest culprit to date is iPhoto, which automatically launches every single time I plug my iPhone in my computer. Neato lets you jot quick notes directly from Notification Center

Neato is a new application that mostly consists of a Notification Center extension that lets you quickly jot down quick notes from anywhere on iOS. After installing the free app from the App Store, simply add the Notification Center extension to start typing in notes from the Lock screen, Home screen, or directly from within an application.

iOS 8.1.1 apparently kills Pangu jailbreak

The cat and mouse game between Apple and the jailbreak community is still very much happening, if an unconfirmed message from an apparent member of the Pangu Team is to be believed.

Weibo user Daniel_K4, who is apparently a member of the Pangu Team recently posted that iOS 8.1.1 beta that was released yesterday patches exploits used by the Pangu jailbreak, incapacitating the jailbreak process on devices that will be updated to the latest OS version once it is released to the public.... Office mobile apps will soon sync to Dropbox

Software giant Microsoft has partnered with Dropbox, a hot cloud-storage startup that Steve Jobs once wanted to buy for $800+ million, to give Office users across desktop, mobile and the web built-in access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in their Dropbox cloud storage, the company announced Tuesday.

Apple rumored to drop iPad mini development to focus on larger ‘iPad Pro’

Apple is dropping iPad mini development in order to focus its efforts on the so-called ‘iPad Pro,’ according to a sketchy new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News this evening. The site claims that this year’s iPad mini 3 model will be the last for the 7.9-inch tablet line.

Such a move wouldn’t be surprising, as Apple gave little attention to the smaller iPad at last month’s event. It’s believed that the mini is far less popular than its larger sibling in terms of sales, and due to production costs and pricing, it provides much smaller profit margins.... Apple seeds first OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite beta to developers

Apple has seeded the first beta of OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite this evening. The update, labeled build 14B17, is available through the Update tab in the Mac App Store and the Mac Dev Center for all registered developers.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus hitting new countries on November 14

Although Apple has not yet formally announced the third wave of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus roll-out, 9to5Mac spotted that local carriers in Brazil, Columbia, Philippines and a few other countries are now advertising November 16 availability of the new handsets.

The Pangu team says a 0.4 Untether update is coming soon

It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost been two weeks since Pangu surprised us all, providing a jailbreak for iOS 8. Since that day, we’ve seen numerous updates and releases to fix bugs and address other lingering issues.

Many of you, though, are still waiting for an OS X version of the iOS 8 jailbreak. From the looks of things, the OS X jailbreak is still a little ways off. Pangu is currently working on a 0.4 release of its Windows tool, which will drop shortly after the 0.3 update was released to fix overheating issues in 32-bit devices....
